Buckingham Palace

London
Officially the Queen resides here (though how often she actually is here is probably a different matter!), and it’s also the main operating bureau for the monarchy. It’s a handsome old palace surrounded by lush, leafy gardens and parkways stretching out opposite the waters of the Thames. Wandering through the various corridors you’ll find a myriad of fine art, ancient furniture and various other in house items.

Get there for around 11.30am in the summer seasons and you’ll see the popular Changing of the Guard ceremony. If you’re going to get down to the palace you may as well get there for the ceremony as the colour and pageantry makes for an entertaining spectacle.
