St. James’s Palace is famous for its red brick Tudor style and location around four courtyards. The Palaces is still the senior palace of the monarchs and has a long history of a Royal residence.
The Palace is now the official London residence of Princess Royal and Princess Alexandra. The Palace also has official apartments including York House, the former home of Prince of Wales and his sons and Clarence House, the home of the late Queen Mother.
The Queen Chapel adjoins St. James and is open to the public at selected times, however the Palace is not accessible to the public. The Royal Court is formally based here too.
Here you can see the guards from the House Hold Division standing guard at the Palace. These are dressed in the traditional red and black uniforms with the large black hats synonymous with the Royal guards.
