The National Gallery

London
The National Gallery is located on the north side of Trafalgar Square. Founded in 1824, the gallery houses over 2,300 paintings, which date from 1250 to 1900.

The Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of Western European paintings in the world, including works from the High Renaissance and Impressionist age. All these paintings belong to the public and entry to see them is free. Nowhere else in the world would you see these magnificent pieces for free.

The National Gallery, while small in comparison to galleries such as the Louvre, it is renowned for covering a broad range of very high quality paintings.

If you fancy a bite to eat after touring the gallery, choose from one of three dining experiences; The National Gallery Dining Room, The National Café or The Espresso Bar.

The nearest underground stations are Charring Cross, Leister Square or the Embankment. Buses pass Trafalgar Square from everywhere in the city, bus routes 3, 6, 9, 53, 88, 139, 453 are just a few.
