Tower Bridge

London
Tower Bridge has allowed London’s to cross over the River Thames since 1894. It was named after its two impressive towers, which were designed by Wolfe Barry. The bridge is one of the most familiar bridges in the world.

The design of the bridge really is very intelligent. The middle of the bridge can be raised to allow large vessels to pass. The bridge, which used to be raised about 50 times a day is only raised about 4 – 5 times a week now.

Whilst visiting the bridge why not go on a behind the scenes tour where you will see the bridges command centre! The Tower Bridge Experience is an exhibition housed in the bridges towers which displays photos, holograms and films detailing the building and history of the bridge.

During the tour you can also walk from one tower to the next via the high level walkways. From here you will get a birdseye view of the city. Tours can be booked in advance and please note that there is a charge for the tour.

The north end of the bridge is near Tower Hill tube station and the south end is only a 10 minute walk for London Bridge Station or can be reached by many buses from all over the city.
